About us
And green, too
As every good company should, we’re trying to be as green as possible, both in ways that are visible to our clients and in our internal workflow. For example, our entire editing process is conducted online, without almost any paper ever being used. Read more about our efforts on our blog.
Bloggers and online journalists are getting better at their craft every day. But they have to publish so rapidly that grammatical mistakes and choppy sentences inevitably creep in.
Edit Owl fixes this. We provide fast, reliable editing services for news websites and blogs, making sure their posts have a clear message, a crisp style, and flawless grammar.
We tend to come into the picture after a blog or news website is up and running and has found an audience and defined its voice. Our clients are publishers of major news websites and blogs on current affairs, the Internet, arts and entertainment, and business. We give them as much or as little help as they need with their content, which usually means fixing grammar, spelling, punctuation, phrasing, style, and HTML formatting.
Editing for us is a collaborative process. That’s why, in addition to doing the core work of editing, we like to keep in close touch with our clients during the process, updating them on the progress of their content and suggesting ways to streamline the publishing process. We know, though, that blogs are judged by the quality of their content and the speed of their posting, and so quality and speed are our priorities, too. A lot of the editing principles we follow can be found in our blog.
Founded in 2006, Edit Owl is based in Toronto, Canada, but run completely online. Our principals are:

Andrew Lobo has been editing text of one kind or another for over 10 years. He started Edit Owl with the ambition to make web content clear and easy to read. He recently succumbed to Twitter but would like you to think he’s well-rounded because he plays badminton and eats cuisines as varied as Indian, Chinese, and Count Chocula. |

Golriz Lucina loves words on the screen. By this, she means the web, not subtitles on foreign films, which she lacks patience for. One of Edit Owl’s principal editors, Golriz has a BA in Modern Film and English Literature and an MA in Editing and Publishing. She is also one of the lead content developers for SoulPancake. When not within arm's reach of her MacBook, Golriz can be found taking non-conventional family portraits and planning escapades to New Zealand, the country she still calls home. |

Marabeth Reichel, a principal editor at Edit Owl, has a varied professional background. After earning her BA in English Literature and teaching certification, she travelled extensively, living in West Africa and the Middle East, working in education, public relations, and marketing. A nerd at heart, she’s always ready to run with the cool kids, with their Lavazza espressos and Fugu sashimi, even though chai lattes and teriyaki chicken are more her speed. |

Kathryn Greenham takes care of quality control as Editorial Assistant. Eyes sharp as a hawk’s, Kathryn oversees our company communications and makes sure the edits that go out to our clients are in tip-top shape. After hours, she devotes her time to hiking, reading about the environment, and watching anything out of the Joss Whedon/JJ Abrams TV factory. |
